A line of powerful storms moved through the area Thursday night, causing damage.
Severe thunderstorm warning and tornado warnings were issued for Johnson County after 11pm. About 3000 residents were without power at the storm’s peak.
A notification from the Johnson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency said all warnings expired at 11:55pm. The reported tornado on the east side of Iowa City may have actually been straight line winds; officials are still making that assessment.
The weather is much calmer for the upcoming weekend; listen for twice-hourly updates from our partners at Severe Studios every day on 1630 KCJJ.
