A West Branch man has been accused of using his employer’s credit card to help build up his side business and purchase items for personal use.
According to court documents, 32-year-old Bradley Weatherman was an employee with Brown’s Floor Care between December 14th and February 27th. During that time, he allegedly solicited jobs away from the business in order to secure jobs for his own personal company.
During that period, Weatherman reportedly used his company credit card to pay for services used on the jobs he solicited from Brown’s. He also allegedly got into the computer system at the company and deleted jobs he was able to solicit away to his own company.
Weatherman also allegedly used the company credit card to make personal purchases without reimbursing his employer.
Brown’s Floor Care estimates Weatherman made charges on the card totaling over $14,000, and the loss of jobs at around $5000.
A warrant was issued for Weatherman’s arrest Monday, and he was taken into custody early Wednesday morning. He faces charges of 1st degree Theft, 2nd degree Fraudulent Practice, and Unauthorized use of a Credit Card. If convicted on all counts, Weatherman could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
