Expanding on a pilot program that was introduced last season, the University of Iowa will again offer flu shots during men’s and women’s home basketball games.

The Daily Iowan reports the College of Pharmacy was awarded a $20,000 grant from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores to expand the Healthy Hawks-One Team, One Goal program.

The program was recognized after it debuted at an Iowa women’s basketball game in November. 40 vaccines were administered within 90 minutes prior to the game, with those receiving the jab ranging from 19 to 81 years old.

The funds will be used to expand the program and expand the number of game clinics. Pharmacy

students are responsible for setting up the clinics and administering the vaccines.
