Johnson County Jail inmate charged after alleged assault on deputy

A Tennessee woman in the Johnson County Jail for an alleged assault on an Iowa State Patrol deputy faces an additional charge after allegedly assaulting a jail deputy.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:48am Friday at the jail. According to the arrest report, deputies were closing the cell door where 35-year-old Ray Crockett of Nashville was being housed. She allegedly put her body in between the door and door frame so that it couldn’t be shut. A physical altercation then occurred, as deputies tried to push Crockett back into the cell. During the altercation, she reportedly struck a deputy in the face, causing bleeding and a scratch to the deputy’s face.

Crockett was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years.
